Come and take a look at these dishes - Popular and traditional Korean Food

Hello (안녕하세요) fellas :)

I'm Franzi and have a Korean experience of 5 months.

Todays topic will be Korean traditional and popular dishes.

First of the typical Korean meal consists of a bowl rice, bowl soup/stew and maybe some side dishes! But you can find a huge range kf vegetables like everything you can find in your garden, in your refrigerator or in the sea - like seaweed and fish. And every sort of meat.

Now let's start with a list of dishes:

1) Classic Bibimbap (비빔밮)

You can easily tweaked it for more or less

spice. The recipe uses six different vegetables but has room for creativity because you can use everything you have in a refrigerator or garden. Usually you eat this rice dish with beef, but you can top it of with a sun fried egg on top.

2) Dongchimi (동치미)

동치미 or Korean white radish is white water kimichi, it's more vinegary rather than spicy. It's a side dish or served as a cold soup. It's a simple recipe to make and takes a few days to brining. You can keep it in the refrigerator for a long time.

3) Bulgogi (불구기)

It's the most popular Korean beef barbecue dish. The meat is thinly sliced and has a smokey taste.

There are three different ways of eating it: broile, grilled or stir-fried.

The beef is usually accompanied with lettuce wraps or gochujang (고잔장 -> spicy red pepper paste) so you can spice it up or wrap your meat.

4) Mandoo (만두)

만두 are Korean dumplings and a symbol of good luck. It's prepared for the Korean Lunar New Year festivities.

They can be added to a beef broth or anchovy broth for a dish called 만두구크 (mandu-guk) and is served with 떡붂이 (tteok-manu-guk), it is a traditional cylindrical rice cake.

The filling of these dumplings are beef or pork but you can see them made with chicken or vegetable. They can be made in advance and freeze for future use.

5) Chap Chae (채프채)

These stir-fried Korean noodles are the most popular noodles dish in Korea. The glass noodles are made from mung bean or sweet potatoes they become translucent when cookes.

채프채 can be a cold or hot dish and can be eaten as an appetizer or main dish.

6) Kimichi Jjigae (기미치찌개)

This spicy kimichi stew recipe is a great use for leftover or older kimichi. In fact, the older the kimichi the better it is in the stew. It's the most popular stew in Korea and you'll find it in mang traditional restaurants.

It is served hot and you are guaranteed to break a sweat when eating. The plain rice will be used as a antidote for the spicy kimichi.

And this concludes my blog entry. Of course these are just a few dishes but there are other popular and traditional dishes in Korean. But woud i start listing all of then I would need to write a complete cook book! So when you are interested just look the dishes up. I'll leave the like of the page I used as a resource. There are some more dishes mentioned too.

Till the next time we read each other!!!

비빔밥 is my favourite, although I haven't tried in the traditional way yet. 동치미 also looks very appealing, now I want to try that too.😭😂
